Foresight Awareness for Philanthropy Training is a 90-minute online course offered by the Institute for the Future (IFTF) that teaches philanthropic organizations how to use strategic foresight to build long-term perspectives. The training helps participants understand the basics of foresight, identify mental traps, and develop a perspective on future risks like climate disruption to improve grantmaking strategies and future-readiness. It is designed for those who want to learn how to apply strategic foresight in their work as a philanthropist or within a philanthropy-serving organization.

Upon completion of the session you will have an introductory understanding of:
– The professional practice of strategic foresight (definition, value, mindset, use cases in the philanthropic sector);
– 4 common mental traps that keep us stuck in the present & how foresight can help
– The building blocks of futures work: drivers, signals, and forecasts
– Practical, future-back thinking habits that can be immediately connected to your work
